LP.Packaging for Flexibles Packaging (Consumer Packaging, Extrusion, Barrier Coating and Industrial Paper Bags)

Flexibles Packaging and Barrier Coating Products are used in many application areas, as transport and safety packaging in industry, in agriculture segment, in construction industry or in consumer products and pharmaceutical industry. The products can have very different shapes and finishing degrees, e.g. tubes, lids, flat film, sheets, trays (thermoformed), bags and pouches which can consists of single or multiple film bonds with partly premium printing. The bases for these products are mostly flat or tubed films produced with different extrusion, lamination, or coating methods. The efficient management of film recipes and structures (layers) plays a vital role as well as the exact management and traceability of used reels whether being raw material reels, semi finish goods or finish goods.

• Predefined product templates for managing multilevel, width independent film recipes and structures with parameter calculation for all main manufacturing and finish steps such as extrusion, lamination, flexo or roto printing and coating, rewinding, slitting, bags and pouch making; the reel configuration and print design specified by the customer can be derived automatically in quotation or sales order; calculation for input quantities takes place with fix and variable scrap factors, set up parameters, side trim, as well as wet and dry recipe components; functionality for combined slitting orders, bags and pouch configuration and make-to-stock production of films is also included in the solution.
• JDF-integration of EskoArtwork Backstage Workflow-Server for electronic data exchange and status monitoring of prepress orders for graphic design and printing tools with LP.Packaging,
• LP.Solution Component “Sequence Planning” for pre-structuring orders sequences for production with the objective of selecting orders using the same tools, the same color rules and printing plates to schedule these orders in a combination of back to back printing and/or combined printing to optimize the set up time. During sequence planning, quantities and shortage in quantities due to imposition will be calculated automatically to display anticipated over and under delivery risks. Sequence dependent sales prices can be calculated based on the optimized set up imposition of orders.
• LP.Solution Component “Shop Floor Data Collection” was developed for the requirements in the flexible packaging industry to allow a continuous reel management with raw materials, semi finish goods and finish goods based on handling units; a continuous reel traceability according to GMP guidelines is ensured with a combination of material postings and time events when generating and consuming handling units; QM integration provides a reel based maintenance of inspection results with a usage decision afterwards; barcodes on reel labels and pallet labels allow a material flow control using scanner.
